Tuition fees
A thirty minute lesson will cost £12.50. In my experience thirty minutes is the most profitable lesson length. Longer or shorter lessons can be negotiated if required.

Piano
I am offering to teach the ABRSM and Trinity College syllabuses. With progress, encouragement will be given for the study of pieces which are not chosen specifically for examination, thus broadening repertoire. Alternatively, there is every chance a student may wish to follow his / her own piano course based on his / her personal interests and playing styles, without the pressures of examination.
Keyboard
I am offering an exciting range of opportunities on keyboard including the Trinity College Electronic Keyboard syllabus and the Trinity College Rock and Pop Keyboards syllabus. I recommend that the Trinity College website should be consulted for details. The Complete Keyboard Player course is also available, which teaches keyboard skills without the pressures of examination. The keyboard is often mis-understood and I will teach students to treat it as an instrument in its own right, with all the wonderful musical opportunities this approach provides.
Violin and Viola
I am offering to teach the violin and viola ABRSM and Trinity College syllabuses. As with the piano, progress in these instruments will lead to encouragement to broaden repertoire. This may well include pieces being played in orchestras or other ensembles. In addition, there is every chance a student may wish to play for pleasure, without examination pressures.
Clarinet and Bass Clarinet
I am offering to teach clarinet up to ABRSM or Trinity College Grade 5. There are opportunities to broaden repertoire in many ways, including exploring interesting arrangements of songs written for solo clarinet in a jazz or other style, with backing CDs, to provide a more complete musical experience.
Music Theory and Aural Test preparation
Music Theory is an important part of learning to play any instrument. My approach, whenever possible, is to teach theory as part of learning the practical skills. Ideally a student who is following a graded practical programme should have an awareness of Grade 1 Theory when studying Grade 1 pieces and so on. My suggestion is to follow this approach at least up to Grade 5. A student should aim to take the ABRSM Grade 5 Theory examination if he / she is intending to undertake serious musical study. Specific lessons in music theory are available. Aural Tests form an important part of practical music examinations and I can offer specific Aural Test lessons if required.
GCSE Music Coaching
Additional coaching can be provided to GCSE music students. I have considerable experience of teaching GCSE Music in schools and can offer help with the theory, listening and composition elements of the syllabus.
